Happy New Year 2010

Happy New Year

A fairly popular New Year’s eve tradition is to define a list of resolutions for the incoming year. These resolutions become goals that you try very hard to achieve throughout the year in course. Comes year-end, you evaluate what happened, you praise the hits, and complain about the missed resolutions. You slip some of those unachieved goals into next year’s resolutions, and the cycle starts all over again.

The one issue I see with New Year’s resolutions is, a lot of us tend to just set way too many! The consequence? Lots of frustrations at the end of the year. So, with this in mind I have adopted a new strategy: have one single New Year’s resolution that will drive a number of other initiatives.

So here is my one single New Year’s resolution: increase readership to this site and all other outlets where you can find The Dynamics GP Blogster. So here is where you come in! In order to accomplish this one goal and all initiatives that derive from it I need your help: a) please keep reading my articles and sending in your comments, and b) spread the word! mcitp training , mcts training

How do these two seemingly simple requests help my initiatives? Very simple! If you keep reading and spreading the word, a) it will be a lot easier for the entire Microsoft Dynamics GP Community to find key pieces of information that makes their lives as easy as yours have become by reading this site, b) it will increase the adoption rate of Dynamics GP. The more users know about all the help outside of CustomerSource and PartnerSource, the less apprehensive they will be towards learning GP, and last but not least, c) it will allow me to continue helping the Community. See, the more I know what people are reading, the better I can address their needs (focused topics, workshops, series, etc). In addition, it increases my chances of coming to a place near you. One of the reasons I made it to the Microsoft Dynamics GP Technical Conference 2009 was due to a fairly successful campaign reaching out to you through various technical articles.

I know you follow me, I know you like (and sometimes dislike, but that ok too) what you read on this site, I know you stay tuned, but think of the benefits others could receive from the same information you get here. So, the next time you speak to your peers or colleagues just mention this site. It takes two seconds and it goes one step more to achieve my New Year’s resolution.

Until next post!

Complete overture to MCSE 2003 and Upgrade Paths

Considering an MCSE 2003.?
If so, it’s probable that you’re in one of two situations: You’re someone with a certain amount of knowledge and you’d like to consolidate your skill-set with an MCSE 2003 Certification. Or this could be your first step into the computer workplace, but it’s apparent to you there’s a huge demand for people with the right qualifications.

When researching computer training companies, ensure that you steer clear of those who reduce their out-goings by failing to use the most up-to-date Microsoft version. This is a false economy for the trainee due to the fact that they’ll have learned the wrong MCSE 2003 version which isn’t in line with the current exam syllabus, so it will make it very difficult for them to pass. Steer clear of providers who are only trying to make a sale. Advisors should be helping to make sure you’re on the right course for you. Don’t be shoe-horned into some generic product by an inadequate outfit.

Even years after their introduction, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE 2003) and Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) credentials remain valuable. But it’s important to avoid interpreting these accreditations as meaning the holders are all-knowing gurus, as that’s usually untrue.

In my mind, the MCSE and MCSA hold value because they demonstrate the holder’s capacity to complete a long and comprehensive education, training, and certification program requiring intensive study. Further, these certifications validate a wide range of relevant expertise (from client and server administration to security issues) on specific, widely used platforms.

Also important is the fact that these certifications tend to indicate holders have been working within the technology field for a long time. There’s no substitute for actual hands-on experience. Many MCSEs and MCSAs hold their certifications on Windows 2000 or Windows Server 2003 platforms, meaning they’ve been working within the industry for many years. While these certifications will be replaced by Microsoft’s new-generation credentials, they remain an important measure of foundational skills on Windows platforms. The strength of Windows Server 2003 in the market today indicates that demand for related IT expertise will continue for years to come. The best way to demonstrate your expert skills on Windows Server 2003—and to inspire confidence in a hiring manager, your team, and yourself—is by earning the Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE 2003) credentials.

In addition, if you are certified on Windows Server 2003, you have an efficient path to the Windows Server 2008 certifications.

The MCSE credential verifies your ability to analyze the business requirements for information systems solutions, and to design and implement infrastructures based on Windows Server 2003.

To earn your MCSE on Windows Server 2003 certification, you must pass seven exams:

Four core exams on networking systems

One core exam on client operating systems

One core design exam

One elective exam

The MCSE on Windows Server 2003 certification will not retire.

If you have an MCSE credential on Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, you can transition your skills to Windows Server 2003 by taking two exams.

The Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE 2003) credential shows clients and employers that you can design, implement, and administer infrastructures for business solutions based on Microsoft 2000 Windows Server and other Windows server platforms. Implementation responsibilities include installing, configuring, and troubleshooting network systems.

This credential also covers Active Directory, which helps organizations simplify IT management, strengthen security, extend interoperability of systems and software, and ultimately reduce costs. The MCSE credential not only equips you to manage an organization’s Active Directory but to plan strategically for its future network enhancements.

Earning a Microsoft Certification validates your proven experience and knowledge in using Microsoft products and solutions. Designed to be relevant in today’s rapidly changing IT marketplace, Microsoft Certifications help you utilize evolving technologies, fine-tune your troubleshooting skills, and improve your job satisfaction.

Whether you are new to technology, changing jobs, or a seasoned IT professional, becoming certified demonstrates to customers, peers, and employers that you are committed to advancing your skills and taking on greater challenges. In addition, certification provides you with access to exclusive Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) resources and benefits, including opportunities to connect with a vast, global network of MCPs.

Troubleshooting Microsoft Windows Vista (5 Part Series) – Introduction

Troubleshooting Microsoft Windows Vista (5 Part Series) – Introduction

Computer troubleshooting is in many ways more art than science; it’s more of a marriage between your basic computer understanding and all the peculiarities of your specific environment. Truth be told, this series of articles actually possesses very little capability in terms of helping you troubleshoot your network. What it can do, however, is get you pointed in the right direction so that you have a better idea of the troubleshooting resources that are at your fingertips within Vista and mcitp training or mcts training.

Of course, there’s no way any computer article can possibly foresee every possible computer troubleshooting scenario. If you want to really know whether a particular troubleshooting approach will work, my best advice is to give it a try. It’s just a machine, after all, and you aren’t going to break it with a few clicks of the mouse.

OK, you might break it, but if you follow some of the advice laid out in this article, you shouldn’t be able to do anything that you can’t undo. Here, we focus mainly on some of the troubleshooting tools that Windows Vista places in the hands of the administrator. As always, the focus is mainly on what’s new: we will examine a new utility called Problem Reports and Solutions, and I’ll bet you don’t need to read much further to guess what the nature of that one is. Also, we’ll explore some tools that an administrator might already know from previous operating systems like the System Restore utility, and we’ll look at situations in which System Restore just might save the day.

In this 5-part series of articles, we will discuss the various tools available for troubleshooting within Windows Vista. As I’m sure you’re aware, this is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. If you’d like to get my entire book “Windows Vista Administration: The Definitive Guide” by Brian Culp, Publisher: O’Reilly, ISBN-13: 978-0-59-652959-8 (or any of my 20+ other books and tutorials), you can pick it up at my website, https:://www.certkingdom.com or at most major book chains. In addition, I’m always happy to provide additional assistance for free (within reason, mind you. . . don’t go thinking this is some sort of a free ride). Visit me at my website and submit your questions to me. I’ll get back to you with an answer as soon as possible.

Up next: we start with a look at a troubleshooting task that is meant to prevent many problems from happening in the first place. It’s the Vista Automatic Updates, which Vista admins should absolutely use to enforce good preventive health.

Brian Culp, MCSE, MCT, is a recognized Microsoft expert who has been teaching and writing about Windows for many years. He is author/coauthor of: seven books including Windows XP Power Tools (Sybex) and Outlook 2003 Bible (Wiley); four MCSE study Guides (McGraw-Hill); and numerous tutorials for the Virtual Training Company. Mr. Culp provides instruction on various administration and networking topics throughout the United States, but can always be reached via his website, https:://www.certkingdom.com

My experience in passing 70-640

My experience in passing 70-640
Hello, I am Cariol. Greatly, I have been certified as MCITP: EA, after passing all Server 2008 exams including 70-640, 70-642, 70-643, 70-680, and 70-640.Trough hard work at this long Server 2008 certification track ,I finally get my MCITP:EA, after the last exam 70-640.
It feels great! And I am glad to say I have my best score on 70-640 with 949.Of course ,many candidates for MCITP Training once got the separately exam with 1000 without braindump materials .However ,I am satisfied with my scores .
Get down business ,here I just want to share my experience in 70-640 not to show off my scores .I hope my experience will help more and more candidates to 70-640 or MCITP :EA out .

I felt I was very well prepared for all MCTS exams. I had studied all of the MS-Press training kit. Focusing on Windows Server 2008 enterprise administration, this training kit taught me much knowledge about Server 2008 and main topic areas or objectives covered in MCTS 70-640.More important, it comes packed with the tools and features the 70-640 candidates will like .Because this self-paced Training kit covers final exam content, rigorous, objective-by-objective review; exam tips from expert, exam-certified authors; and customizable testing options, and also provides labs and exercises for skills which can not only help you pass 70-640,but also help you get the expertise you can apply to the job. In my opinion, MCITP Self-Paced Training Kit is the best materials, if you want to apply MCTS Training 70-640.Tell you a piece of message. My boy friend just studied about 75% of the MS Press book and scored an 823, which is not a very high score, but is passing.

In my opinion, the reason why I got higher scores than my boy friend was that I had made good use of Certkingdom Notes besides the MS press book. During my 70-640 preparation, I did lots of digging around Server 2008 Certkingdom. On the internet or forums or some blogs, I found that many people wanted to find the free study materials or resources about 70-640, 643,640 or some other Microsoft exams, in fact, the documentation from Certkingdom is best free materials, if you can make good use of it .When I came across something topic area or objectives which are vague and not enough detailed or I was not familiar with ,I would find the answers or clear my confusion from the Certkingdom .When you prepare your 70-640,I hope you can get more .Because it paid off my hard works .

It is known to all we are required to do many 70-640 practice tests to help us grasp Server 2008 technology .Although the MS Press kit has provided some tests, we can not rely on those practice exams .After passing bundles of exams crediting towards MCITP Training: EA such as 70-640, 70-642, 70-643 and so on ,personally ,the best 70-640 practice exams are from Measure Up test.

Although many people thought it is the key to pass Microsoft Certification exams just to have a good book and do enough practice. However, if you have completed MS Press kit, I recommended you to read through the Sybex book which can help you better understand the topics of Server 2008, but can not replace the MS press kit.

The 70-640 exam cost my two months to complete my study plan. Generally speaking, Two months are best for your study time. Of course, you can not take a passive attitude towards your study plan .Every day; I spend 4-6 hours in my MCITP preparation.

Through the above hard work, I was very relaxed when taking the test. I was through it in about an hour and change, but I spent about 15 minutes reviewing about 4-5 questions I wasn’t sure of. Out of 40 questions, my score indicates I got about 36.5 correct. There were 2 questions which I just couldn’t wrap my head around and figure out where they were going. Other than that, I felt like I knew what I was doing.

So, that is my experience .I hope you can get some useful information for your 70-640 preparation. If you have some confusion, please let me know.

EDIT:
How many questions are there in 70-640? About 40 questions .Because 70-640 is a traditional question-based exams, there are no labs and just questions in the exam type.

How many scores you should get to pass the MCTS 70-640 exams? I think it is know to all to get 70% of the total scores. However, generally speaking, the total scores are 1000.

If some of us want to take online training resources for 70-640, the MS Classroom Training is enough for us.
